Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is back at work after a brief spell in hospital due to pneumonia.

The 47-year-old was admitted earlier this month after feeling unwell for several days and was subsequently diagnosed with the illness. Now recovered, Howe has resumed his role at the club’s training ground and is once again overseeing preparations ahead of a crucial Premier League run-in.

During Howe’s absence, assistant manager Jason Tindall and first-team coach Graeme Jones stepped up to guide the team. The coaching duo led Newcastle through three fixtures, including a dominant 4-1 win over Manchester United and a 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace, before suffering a 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

Newcastle currently sit fifth in the Premier League, occupying the final Champions League qualification spot, with eyes firmly set on securing a place in next season’s competition.

The club expressed gratitude to fans for their support during Howe’s time away, posting a thank-you message on X (formerly Twitter) for the "warm wishes" sent by supporters.

Howe was hospitalized late on April 11 after it became clear he was unwell—Tindall had already taken his place at a pre-match press conference earlier that day. The following day, the club confirmed that Howe would miss the game against Manchester United, the first of three matches he would sit out.

Newcastle are set to host Ipswich Town at St James' Park on Saturday, with Howe expected back on the touchline.
