"La Liga" decides its position on registering Olmo in Barcelona's roster
27 August 2024
The Spanish Football League has approved Barcelona's registration of its new forward, Dani Olmo, on the eve of facing its host Rayo Vallecano, Tuesday, in the third round of "La Liga".
Dani Olmo (26 years old) did not participate in the first two matches with Barcelona in the league, due to not being registered in the team's roster.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", the "La Liga" Association will allow Barcelona to register Olmo as compensation for the long-term absence of the Danish Andreas Christensen.
Barcelona had adhered to the rules of fair play with the departure of Clement Lenglet, Ilkay Gundogan, Mika Fai and Vitor Roque, but that was not enough to register Dani Olmo.
However, Barcelona will be able to register Olmo, in light of Andreas Christensen's long-term absence due to injury.
Barcelona had already registered Vitor Roque and Inigo Martinez, taking advantage of the absence of Pablo Gavi and Ronald Araujo, so Barcelona can now use 80% of Christensen's salary to sign Olmo. Christensen will be out for four months, and La Liga has approved Olmo's registration after reviewing the Danish defender's medical report.
