AC Milan on a Win Streak with Return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic
27 February 2023
Series A title holders AC Milan extended their winning streak to 3 matches with a win against Atalanta at home last night, by 2 goals to none. AC Milan have consilidated their top 4 position and are looking better with every match, especially with the return of the Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic after a knee injury saw him sidelined since May 2022.
Ibrahimovic finally returned to the pitch, making his first appearance of the year, at 41 years old, having signed a 1 year contract extension that will see him staing at the San Siro until July 2023.
Ibrahimovic told DAZN of his prolonged injury suffering: “If I have to tell the whole story, I’ll be here for hours. I suffered a lot, so much. The last six months of last season I wanted in every way to help the team, even when I couldn’t really play. I could’ve had the surgery six months earlier, but I could tell this was the season we could win the Scudetto, I promised to the coach that I would hold off on the surgery because I wanted to be there for the team and help them. I tell you, I never suffered so much as I did last season for a trophy."
AC Milan fans were also happy to witness the return of their goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who has also been sidelined for the past 5 months due to an injury.
