Bournemouth Held by 10-Man Palace in Missed European Push

Bournemouth squandered a golden opportunity to edge closer to the Premier League's top seven after being held to a goalless draw by 10-man Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The home side went down to 10 men just before half-time when Chris Richards received a second yellow for tugging Justin Kluivert, but despite dominating possession after the break, Bournemouth failed to break down Palace’s resilient defence.

Andoni Iraola’s side created little in terms of clear chances, with Evanilson's tame header among the few efforts that tested the Eagles.

Palace, meanwhile, showed grit, defending deep and frustrating the visitors despite being a man down.

Controversy surrounded the first half as Bournemouth’s Alex Scott escaped a potential second yellow for a foul on Ismaila Sarr, moments before Richards was dismissed.

Palace were further aggrieved when Tyler Adams, already booked, escaped sanction for a foul on Will Hughes early in the second half.

Bournemouth’s best chance came early when Dean Huijsen failed to convert a close-range header, while Semenyo sent a speculative shot high late on.

The Cherries now sit on a club-record 49 points but remain five behind seventh-placed Aston Villa.

Palace, despite registering no shots on target, held firm and remain 12th, five points behind Bournemouth, extending a solid run under manager Oliver Glasner.
