Premier League leaders Liverpool will visit Japan for the first time in club history this summer, with a pre-season friendly scheduled against Yokohama F. Marinos, the J League confirmed on Thursday.

The fixture is part of Liverpool’s upcoming Asian tour in July, which also includes a stop in Hong Kong.

Yokohama F. Marinos are currently coached by Steve Holland, former assistant to England boss Gareth Southgate. The Japanese side reached the AFC Champions League final last season under ex-Liverpool midfielder Harry Kewell. Previous managers also include current Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou.

The highly anticipated clash will be held on July 30 at the iconic Nissan Stadium in Yokohama—venue of the 2002 FIFA World Cup final and capable of holding over 70,000 fans.

Before their stop in Japan, Liverpool will take on AC Milan on July 26 in the inaugural football match at Hong Kong’s brand-new Kai Tak Stadium, which boasts a 50,000-seat capacity.

The Reds' preparations come ahead of the new Premier League campaign, which kicks off on August 16.
