Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento has been omitted from England’s squad for Monday’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia.
The 22-year-old was an unused substitute in England’s 2-0 victory over Albania at Wembley on Friday but will not feature in the squad for the upcoming match.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel initially named a 26-man squad for the fixtures against Albania and Latvia. However, UEFA regulations mandate that only a 23-man matchday squad can be selected for each game.
Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah, both absent from Friday’s squad, return for the Latvia match. Meanwhile, Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has dropped out after returning to his club due to injury.
Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has also been left out again as England prepare to host Latvia at Wembley (19:45 GMT).
Tuchel: "We Need the Right Team, Not Just the Most Talented"
Explaining his selection decisions, Tuchel emphasized the importance of building a cohesive team rather than simply selecting the most gifted individuals.
"We have to get the process right to find the best group," Tuchel said. "If that means leaving out very good and talented players, so be it.
"In the next 16 months, our priority is to build the right team, not just pick the 26 most talented players. We need the right team spirit—qualifiers are one thing, but tournament football is another."
