Substitute Beto scored a thrilling stoppage-time equalizer to secure a draw for Everton against Fulham, extending their Premier League unbeaten streak.
Sean Dyche’s team seemed destined for defeat after a subdued display, but in the 94th minute, Portuguese striker Beto converted Ashley Young’s cutback to push the Toffees' unbeaten run to five games.
"It means a lot for me," Beto told BBC Match of the Day. "These couple of weeks I wasn't playing so I needed to put in the hard work, and as everybody says the hard work pays off.
"This time it pays off for me and my team-mates, for the Toffees, and it is really important.
"The hard work pays off. I just need to keep working. If I have the opportunity of course I want to score, and if I don't I will keep working - this is my mentality.
"We showed tonight we don't give up. We need to keep this mentality."
Alex Iwobi looked set to haunt his former club, scoring the opening goal on the hour mark after a brilliant run from Emile Smith Rowe, but Fulham couldn’t hold their lead.
Marco Silva’s side dominated early on, nearly breaking the deadlock with back-to-back chances—Jordan Pickford pushed away a powerful drive from Adama Traore, and Smith Rowe missed a close-range attempt.
Everton started timidly, though they nearly took a surprise lead when Idrissa Gueye, making his 200th Premier League appearance, struck the crossbar, followed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s offside rebound.
Despite looking disjointed for much of the game, Everton pushed on, and Beto found the ideal moment to net his first league goal of the season.
