Raul Jimenez netted his 50th Premier League goal with a clinical penalty, helping Fulham secure a victory over Nottingham Forest and continue their strong start to the season.
The penalty was awarded early in the second half after referee Josh Smith, prompted by VAR, reviewed an incident where Forest defender Murillo scraped his studs along Andreas Pereira’s calf.
Although Pereira is Fulham’s usual penalty taker, Jimenez took charge amid a brief disagreement and confidently converted the spot-kick.
The goal broke the deadlock in what had been a tight match, with Forest substitutes Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga injecting energy into the home side’s attack.
Hudson-Odoi nearly scored after a skillful dribble, but his shot sailed over the crossbar, while Fulham keeper Bernd Leno made a crucial save from Jota Silva’s volley.
Jimenez came close to doubling his tally with a curling effort that went wide, but Fulham held firm against Forest’s late pressure.
The win marks Fulham’s third of the season, moving them up to sixth in the table, just four points behind leaders Liverpool.
